Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site is also another attraction that one needs to visit when in Philadelphia. This was once the expensive and renowned prison in the world. Today, this cellblock stands in ruin as an empty guard towers. It has great design from its architecture, it is also said to be a true discipline due to its penitentiary status for it offered penitence and it was a true regret for convicts. Some of the areas that one can tour while at this site include solitary punishment cells, cellblocks, death row, museums, and historic sites among others.  This site is located only 1.2 miles from the center of this city.
